Description

Anderson Compressed Teff Grass Bale offers premium-quality Teff hay that has been compressed into a compact 50 lb format, designed to save storage space and reduce transportation costs without compromising nutritional value. Teff is a warm-season annual grass known for it’s fine stems and soft texture, making it highly palatable to horses. It is naturally low in non-structural carbohydrates (NSC), typically around 10% or less, making it an excellent forage choice for horses that require a low-sugar and starch diet, such as those with insulin resistance, equine metabolic syndrome or laminitis. The high fiber content supports healthy digestion, while the moderate protein levels make it suitable for maintenance diets. However, when feeding Teff to growing horses or breeding stock, supplementation with high-quality protein sources may be necessary to meet their nutritional requirements.

Compressed for Efficiency: Saves storage space and reduces handling time while maintaining nutritional integrity

Low in Non-Structural Carbohydrates: Ideal for horses requiring low-sugar and starch diets, such as those with metabolic conditions

High Fiber Content: Supports digestive health and promotes satiety, aiding in weight management

Note

Teff hay may contain oxalates, which can interfere with calcium absorption. Long-term feeding may require calcium supplementation to maintain a proper calcium-to-phosphorus ratio. Additionally, some teff hay may contain synephrine, a naturally occurring compound that could result in positive drug tests in performance horses. Consult with a veterinarian or equine nutritionist when incorporating teff hay into your horses diet, especially for horses with specific health concerns or dietary needs.
