There are a few names associated the design and development of this pattern but this specific variation was developed by James Christmas. Christmas was one of the first to pull chenille legs through the body of the Flexo body that creates the very translucent and realistic body of a crab pattern. Christmas originally designed this fly to target Triggerfish on a trip to Alphonse Island in 2014. Later it was further developed to unlock the secret to the Indo-Pacific permit in the Indian Ocean. Today it recognized as one of the most important permit crab fly designs, and a must have for any serious permit destination.
