Description
Kentucky Bluegrass is a cool season grass that grows best during the fall, winter, and spring months when temperatures are cool. This grass thrives in full sun conditions, however, it will tolerate some shade. When stressed by temperatures, lack of water, or poor soils, Kentucky Bluegrass can be susceptible to disease and weed invasion. A dark green, medium textured turf, Kentucky Bluegrass spreads by underground rhizomes that can self-repair injured, worn, or damaged spots. Producing a dense turf, Kentucky Bluegrass is a moderate to high maintenance grass. Kentucky Bluegrass is commonly mixed with Perennial Ryegrass for good color and year-round performance.
Purpose for this seed: Kentucky Bluegrass is a cool season, perennial ground cover that forms a beautiful, high quality, dense sod when it is grown in pure stands. This grass is a best used in medium to low traffic areas, and is often incorporated with other grass species to produce a better multipurpose lawn. Higher rates of fertilizer and water are needed for this seed, as it is a tender bladed species. It is a fast growing that had good “lawn mending” capabilities.
