Note
Once the plastic has cooled, reset it by tapping the blade side of the oar shaft on a hard surface such as a boat ramp or rock. (This will not keep the problem from occurring again but should allow you to attach your oar blade.)
For a longer lasting fix, use a utility knife to trim the excess plastic from the end of the oar shaft and from around the push-button hole
