Description
VihtaVuori’s N570 rifle powder is one of the more recent products in the high-energy powder family. It was developed at the request of Mag cartridge reloaders. realized that this kind of powder was desired yet lacking on the market, so decided to develop N570 to meet the customer’s needs.
The characteristics of this high energy powder with it’s large grain size and high bulk density are developed to bring out the maximum velocities of cartridges with very large volume cases like the 6,5-.284 Norma, the .300 Winchester Mag, the .300 Remington Ultra Mag and the .338 Lapua Mag.
VihtaVuori N570 is very well suited for long-range target shooting and in military applications with big volume cartridges.
N570 is the slowest of the high-energy powders and is an extruded, tubular powder type with grain dimensions of 2,3mm length and 1,3mm diameter. Due to the large kernel size (similar to 24N41 and 20N29),recommend you to always weigh your N570 charges rather than relying on throws from powder measures, as they do not always deliver consistent charges. This way you can avoid under or over-charging cases.
VihtaVuori manufactures propellants also for military use and the products are tested according to NATO standards and requirements. Military cartridges are tested in extreme cold conditions down to -54 °C/-65 F. In these extreme minus temperature tests, heavy loads with N570 have shown signs of increased pressure. As safety comes first, urge the reloading community to strictly adhere to the following safety measure.
Due to risk for high pressure in heavy loads do not recommend using N570 powder in temperatures below – 20°C/-4°F. If using heavy loads in cold temperatures, recommend using powder N568 instead. All other N500-series powders are safe to use in any temperature also below 0 °C/32 F.
Tips From the Pros
